  1. Stone Design Ships Create 2.1

  3. ALBUQUERQUE, NM, April 20, 1994 - Stone Design has begun shipping Create 2.1 on 
  4. CDROM.
  5.  
  6. According to Andrew Stone, CEO of Stone Design, "This release adds
  7. even more functionality to Create, proving the axiom that Create
  8. is the best-supported drawing package on NEXTSTEP. The CDROM allows
  9. us to ship an online Manual database and many tutorial documents,
  10. as well as demos of all of our apps"

  12. New Features for 2.1:
  13.  
  14. * The Arc Tool was added. Now it's easy to do pie charts and accurate
  15. arcs with precision.
  16.  
  17. * The Create DataWell and Selection Status Fields:
  18.  
  19.   - DataWell -The new datawell in each Create document has 6 different
  20.   file types that you can drag out and drop in all conforming
  21.   NEXTSTEP apps: EPS, TIFF, CreateImage, PS, RTF and ASCII. You can
  22.   even drag them into any Create document, as a shorthand for
  23.   copy/paste! What you get depends on the current type in the well,
  24.   use the Data Type pop up  to change to another data type.

  26.   - Selection Status Field _ This field helps you identify what
  27.   type of object is currently selected in your document. If more
  28.   than one object is selected and they are all of the same type,
  29.   it will display those objects's name. The Select Previous and
  30.   Select Next buttons allow rapid selection of small objects.

  32. * Complete On-line Manual Database
  33.  
  34. A complete, searchable online database is provided as an installable
  35. package. Once installed, this will place a new menu item in the
  36. Info submenu, Online Manual... This will launch DataPhile (included
  37. on the CDROM as a demo).

  39. * Double-Click a text object to edit
  40. Brought back by popular demand, you can quickly edit Super Text or
  41. Paragraph Text  by double clicking it.

  43. * User patterns now flow with .createImage files
  44. This allows you to paste or drag and drop patterns that reside on
  45. the pasteboard or in a .createImage file into DataPhile or into
  46. another user's Create doc.

  48. * Many bug fixes to Version 2.0
  49. Many bug fixes of mostly minor but annoying problems were addressed.
  50. Many system administrators won't buy a product that ends in "0" -
  51. and for good reason. This version is rock solid and ready to roll.

  53. New Features since Version 1.2:

  55. * NSFIP compatibility - Create 2.1 offers full compatibility with
  56. NEXTSTEP for Intel Processors on NeXT-qualified Intel-based hardware
  57. configurations and Motorola-based NeXT hardware.

  59. * Hot links to and from Create - < Include link buttons, icons and
  60. linked files in any Create document for automatic and manual updating;
  61. link to Create files from any other NEXTSTEP app that supports hot
  62. links.

  65. * Filter support - Create supports Bacchus' ImageAgent image filters;
  66. e.g. drag and drop GIFs and many other foreign graphic images into
  67. Create.

  69. * Multiple Pages - Add, duplicate, rearrange as many pages in a
  70. document as you like.

  72. * Animate - Allows you to display your pages in sequence and specify
  73. the delay between pages.

  75. * Unlimited Custom Patterns - Create stunning patterns with unlimited
  76. variety. Share with friends.

  78. * On-line Help - < Create 2.1 includes extensive on-line help based
  79. on the NEXTSTEP standard. You can click on any interface object to
  80. learn about it, and cruise through hyper text learning about Create.

  82. * Text into Editable Curves - Take any Super Text and turn into
  83. editable shapes. Create your own wild type!

  85. * Unlimited Undo - Tell Create how many edit actions to remember,
  86. then Undo to your heart's content; free up memory using the new
  87. Free Undo Buffers command.

  89. * Paintbrush Tool - Drag out a swath of color, smear a pattern and
  90. edit individual points along the outline.

  92. * Dynamic Date and Page Markers - You can add an automatically
  93. updating or fixed date markers, and auto-increment page numbers,
  94. to any document.

  97. Create 2.1 is offered in multiple-architecture binary form, making
  98. it compatible with both NeXT and Intel-based hardware running
  99. NEXTSTEP version 3.1 or later. In addition, Stone said, "We shall
  100. port to PA-RISC as soon as it's available."

  102. Create 2.1 can be shared on a network comprising both NeXT and
  103. Intel hardware; documents created on either machine can be opened
  104. on any other machine running the same version of Create.

  106. Create 2.1, which is available for media costs to registered users
  107. of Create 2.0 and $99 for registered users of Create 1.0, lists for
  108. $495. Trade-ups to Intel versions of all Stone software purchased
  109. between February 12, 1993 and May 21, 1993 are available free of
  110. charge to end users.
